This software tool lets your laptop work as a Wi-Fi access point.
Intel Access Point is can convert a laptop using Intel processors into an Wi-Fi access point. People around then will be able to get access to the Internet through this access point. This functionality provides a means to set up a quick gateway to the net when you need the facility in a meeting in a hotel room, meeting room or anywhere else. The way this works is that the laptop uses the Ethernet connection cable in the room and communicates with neighboring devices by creating a wireless network to these devices. Other WiFi-enabled computers or devices will find the Wi-Fi signal and can join in the wireless network. This net access can also be from iPhone, iPad, PDA and any other mobility enabled device. It is very simple and single click gets you into WiFi access and another click can take you out simply. The tool sets up a secure wireless network. Access is through a network key.
The interface to the application is very simple. The tabbed interface groups functions together. The tabs are Internet status, “share my Internet” and “connect to Intel access point”. This is simple enough for a newbie to get going right away. The first tab “Interface status” simply tells you if the connection to the base laptop is on or not. The other two tabs are for functionalities that let others connect to you and the other is for you to connect to a similar network set up by somebody else. This is a simple and useful tool.
